Creme compact foundations are hit or miss with me. Most of the time they're too greasy, too crease-y, or just not the right shade. Finding a creme foundation that works with my skin type as well as my skin tone is a rare thrill. The Dual Foundation and Blush Trio from renowned makeup artist Eve Pearl's line is working for me on both levels.

Like her concealer (previously reviewed here), Eve has infused her foundation and blush with CosmeNutrients, skin-care ingredients to help your skin while covering/coloring it. Here's the technical info below:

AstaREAL®, the key ingredient in Eve Pearl’s CosmeNutrients™, it is the most recognized brand of Astaxanthin. AstaReal® is not only a coloring agent; it is also a very potent anti-oxidant.
Naturally harvested from the micro algae Haematococcus pluvial is- a single cell plant at the very beginning of the food chain.
An all natural carotenoid pigment and provides strongest natural antioxidant protection against lipid peroxidation* and singlet oxygen**.
1000 times stronger than vitamin E for lipid peroxidation.
550 times stronger than vitamin E and 40 times stronger beta-carotene for singlet oxygen quenching.
Provides support for skin at the cellular level.
Helps to improve skin naturally.... no harsh chemicals.... no dangerous procedures.
Helps to fight the effects of the aging process.
Has anti-inflammatory properties that reduce burn levels after UVB exposure.
Contributes to the reduction of hyper-pigmentation.
Protects body tissue from oxidation.

When I first received my compact in Light, I was a little nervous because the foundation shades looked darker than what I usually use. I am very fair and cool toned, and these looked a little warm. Upon application, I found that they blended right into my skin and made my complexion look flawless. I can wear either one as an all-over shade, but right now I am using the lighter shade all over and the darker on my redder areas (I have rosacea). As the weather turns warmer and I get a little (very little) color, the darker will prpbably become my base shade. With just a light dusting of loose powder over it, the foundation stays on for the day. It's the first foundation of this type that I have tried in a really long time that doesn't accentuate lines.

The compact includes a creme blush as well, and the shade of that reminded me of canned tomato soup with a little milk in it- again not a shade I routinely reach for. I tried it on, and it gave me the sweetest, natural looking peachy glow- very natural looking. The blush is very long-wearing for a creme formula. I was surprised that I liked it as much as I do.

Both the foundation and the creme blush require very little product to work, meaning that the compact will last a long time.

I actually got compliments on my skin while wearing this combo, both from an SA in a department store and a co-worker who's known me for years.

The price of the compact is US$48 and is currently available at Eve's website, evepearl.com

5 favorable flowers for this fine foundation and beautiful blush.

Eyelashes

  • If using a metal curler, try using a hairdryer to heat the center of the curler. Like a curling iron, it will hold the curl longer. Just be careful not to overheat it because that can be painful.

  • For those of us who are a bit clumsy when it comes to curling and applying mascara, curl and apply mascara before beginning the eye makeup application. This way, whatever you smudge, just clean off and you don’t need to ruin your eye makeup. Do whatever feels comfortable for you. I usually curl and apply mascara before beginning my own makeup. Some people smudge their mascara all over the lid when applying. This can ruin a nice make up job.
