The Body

Like even the most beloved car, our bodies can take a beating from the general wear and tear of driving through life.

Growing up, we first encounter pimples, sometimes acne, and it is difficult to get through our teens without a few scars from playing field hockey or getting a tattoo. As we get older, the skin of our body naturally begins to lose its elasticity, its tone and firmness, so that by the time we're in our thirties and forties, age spots, red blotches, and other marks appear - as if out of nowhere.

Whether caused by our lifestyle, genetics, or the inevitable passing of time, these signs of aging and other marks caused by the sun, or a wild trip to the tattoo parlor, begin to bother people, and many women and men decide they don't want to look at them any longer. But what are their options?

  • If using a metal curler, try using a hairdryer to heat the center of the curler. Like a curling iron, it will hold the curl longer. Just be careful not to overheat it because that can be painful.

  • For those of us who are a bit clumsy when it comes to curling and applying mascara, curl and apply mascara before beginning the eye makeup application. This way, whatever you smudge, just clean off and you don’t need to ruin your eye makeup. Do whatever feels comfortable for you. I usually curl and apply mascara before beginning my own makeup. Some people smudge their mascara all over the lid when applying. This can ruin a nice make up job.
