One of the purposes of makeup is to cover or hide flaws, and more often than not accentuate the strong points of the face. In a woman’s daily routine, bargain shopping and an abundance of products often can get overwhelming, and then women are left settling for a product that doesn’t work. Professional makeup artist Eve Pearl has the solutions, and her expert advice is priceless as she proves in her book Plastic Surgery without the Surgery.
Eve Pearl recognizes the attachment and emotional commitment women make to their makeup. It becomes cult-like as women buy the same product, demanding more out of it and not getting what they need. Pearl identifies the problem areas of the average woman and conquers them with her flawless makeup tips, so that plastic surgery is not the first route a woman takes.
Laugh lines, crow’s-feet, acne, even double chins can all be solved with Pearl’s genius solutions and cosmetic line. After working on dozens of celebrities, including Kelly Ripa, achieving a clear complexion to getting rid of unwanted freckles, that perfect complexion is within reach.
This book is the “how to” for all women who are unhappy with a body part or anything on the face, even if it is just dark circles. It’s a read that is worth it for anyone who wears makeup, or has a flaw that they want to cover in just one stroke of the brush. This is a great way to reunite with the original purpose of makeup and to feel beautiful.
One of Pearl’s best selling products is the Salmon Concealer & Treatment, which tends to do so well because of their highly effective coverage, the vitamins, and the proteins and peptides, which do wonders for the skin. Loaded with anti-oxidants and stronger than vitamin E, it’s a promising coverage that also improves skin with use.
The EVE PEARL® Makeup Experience Studio & Boutique is located at 805 Third Avenue between 49th & 50th street on the Upper Level.

I had the chance to meet Eve Pearl a few months ago at the blogger preview MakeUp Show. I was lucky to get a make-over by this five time Emmy winning makeup artist and when I left her chair, I had flawless skin and perfectly made up eyes! Oh how I wish I could have Eve with me every day for makeup application. Lucky for me (and you) she offers lots of videos on how-to apply perfect makeup. I watched with great interest how to properly apply the Dual Foundation/Salmon Concealer which was a big help to me. I love Eve’s fantastic products which are supreme in their integrity and ingredients! I highly recommend you visit her website which is chock full of products, videos, tips and tricks!

On my way out, I stopped by the Eve Pearl booth to meet Aina from Lacquerholic. Aina is a professional makeup artist and works with Eve Pearl, who is known for her work in TV and her current gig as Meredith Viera’s makeup artist. Eve’s booth was so packed with people it was hard to chat much but I was so happy to finally meet her.

I had the honor of meeting Eve Pearl about a month ago. She invited me into her studio on the East Side to get a make-over, which made me hesitant at first. I usually shy away from stuff like that, since I usually feel too “made-up” when I leave the artist’s chair. Well, I was finally proven wrong this time around! Eve Pearl is incredibly skilled and knows how to work with every skin type. I walked out of her studio feeling like a new, even more fabulous version of myself!
Her past client list includes a bunch of celebrities. She is used to having her work featured on high definition cameras, so you know she has to be great! Just look at Meredith Vieira every morning on Today to see a sample of Eve’s handiwork.
Eve taught me how to use a light foundation and their “3 Shade Blush,” which was quick and easy. I also learned to try a Salmon-colored concealer under my eyes (it counteracts dark circles) instead of the old-fashioned cover up I was wearing for too long. The staff at the studio was so friendly and they even let me leave with all the make-up that they used during my trial!
When I came into work the next day, the girls at my office kept saying that I looked like I was glowing, so it looks like I’ve found my forever make-up!

I'm in beautiful Vancouver for the next few weeks working with NBC's Today show as we cover the games and broadcast from the top of Grouse Mountain. The location is spectacular with breathtaking views. Unfortunatley, we've not had the best weather so far...a bit foggy and rainy. But I look forward to the clear days ahead. In the next few days I will be sharing some photos and videos with you all. Last nights Opening Ceremonies were quite something, however I felt the sadness for the unfortunate loss of Nodar Kumaritashvili in the Luge crash that took his life earlier that morning. As a Georgian myself, I felt a deep sorry for his family and team mates, as I'm sure the rest of the world felt the same. As much as I love what I do, I'm not the biggest fan of traveling and being away from my family and loved ones. I miss you all...so stay in touch. xo, Eve

First up is my top purchase, Eve Pearl's famous Duo Salmon concealer in the colour Light/Medium. I've wanted this for so long after reading and watching hundreds of rave reviews on the Internet but as I'm not a fan of buying makeup over the Internet I never dared order. I wish I had because this concealer is the most effective under eye cover up I've ever used.
Formulation wise it's second to none, luxuriously creamy, velvety to touch, non cakey and blendable.
It is effortless to use, silky on the skin and the two colours make it so easy to cover dark circles perfectly. I apply the darker more salmon shade first to conceal blue/purple tones around my eyes and then I go over the top lightly with the more natural shade to help it blend with the rest of my skin tone. As much as I love my Bobbi Brown this under eye duo definitely has the edge texture wise making it my new handbag essential.
The other Eve Pearl purchase was this amazing lipstick in Nude Beach. I couldn't resist this gorgeous shade, you know how I love my nude peaches. This has overtaken NYX's India as my all time favourite lipstick, it's a more subtle and wearable peachy nude making it perfect for everyday. It goes with all looks and has become my daily must have.

If you don’t know about Eve….peep the resume, she is currently working on the Today Show as Meredith Viera’s personal makeup artist. ANYWAY…..I had the pleasure of meeting Eve and having her “beat my face” (YES, I sat in the makeup chair) as she worked her magic, she explained how her products were like, “skincare with color” a concept I loved. As she worked…I was curious as she was using darker colors than I was accustomed to. I was convinced that it was going to look too dark (you know how picky I am LOL) but I kept my mouth shut and let her work. Boy was i surprised…..I instantly fell in LOVE with several products, one of which is the Salmon Concealer & Treatment. While she was talking she brushed on what felt light as air (you know how I feel about things feeling heavy or cakey!) and after she did ONE eye I looked in the mirror and was FLOORED. There was a distinct difference in the under eye area one side looked refreshed and the other looked pretty sad in comparison. Eve chose a color for me that I normally would not have chosen (it looked dark to me, so I was giving her the side eye….LOL) but she says the concealer should be closer to your skin color to avoid that raccoon look.
I’m excited to introduce our new show THE PEARL EFFECT.
We will feature Industry Pro’s, Makeovers, Hot Topics and much more…

As the theory goes, glum consumers continue to spend money on small luxuries during times of economic or emotional stress to buy their spirits, a point underscored in the months after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the United States, which saw lipstick sales double.
It seems difficult for women to justify spending their hard earned money on the latest Louis Vuitton handbag or those Christian Louboutin pair of heels. At least they can still splurge on themselves with a small item like cosmetics or lipstick...to look good and hopefully feel better about themselves...
Humm...using the luxury of cosmetics to lift our spirits and feel pretty...well, that might have been the case in the Great Depression.... Ladies, times have changed...the current depression puts higher demands on everything...including our cosmetics.
Faced with news of increasing layoffs, straining economic pressure and the fact that competition out there is much greater than ever before...in all facets of life...we need to step it up. Let's face it; no one really knows when the next ball will drop. Everyone seems to be competing to get that client, keep that job or end up being one of the hundreds trying to get that one available new job. How do you get noticed, being one from so many...how can the fact that you have years of experience, knowledge and the ability to get the job done, not be overshadowed by the dark under eye circles you have from not sleeping. How can all the years you've put into your field be recognized as an asset when your self conscious about your uneven skin, rosacea or that nasty breakout? It does sound a bit silly, but is it? First impressions DO matter. Your appearance is a good investment even when times are very tough. People, who take care of themselves daily, seem to be able to get ahead of those who don't. Think about the time you spend getting your resume coiffed. The time you spend in finding the appropriate suite, all the hours spent hunting on search engines looking for jobs...
Time can give you the professional knowledge. But time can also take away the youthful sparkle of your appearance if you let it. When you look good, you feel confident. That gives you a Competitive Edge and something your colleagues and clients will certainly recognize, appreciate and come to expect.
The Lipstick Effect of 2009...cosmetics to help us feel pretty is not enough. Find multi function products that will treat your skin; to make you look good, feel good and that are good for you. Learn how to apply it properly for your field of business...and walk into a room confident that you have done everything to best represent yourself...with a Visual Competitive Edge!
